Training Using Positive Reinforcement
At Empowered Pups we believe in using dog training methods that are humane, effective and fun! Our training is not only enjoyable for you, it’s also enriching and rewarding for your dog!
What is Positive Reinforcement Training?
Positive reinforcement training is a method of modifying and shaping behaviors by rewarding and reinforcing desirable behaviors as they occur. We reinforce these desired behaviors using rewards such as food, praise, or play. By consistently rewarding the dog performing a desired behavior, we effectively teach them which behaviors are rewarding. This encourages the dog to repeat those behaviors in the future, fostering lasting behavioral changes through positive associations.
The safety in using positive reinforcement training methods
Safety for you and your dog is always our #1 priority. Positive reinforcement training is the most humane and the safest method of training. This is because when training positive the dog is never put in distress or harm just to get a desired behavior. We use safe and effective training tools like food rewards, praise and awareness to the dogs body language to help guide and teach the dog desired behaviors. By prioritizing the dogs physical and emotional wellbeing we are building trust and respect between the pet parent and the dog while still getting the training results we desire. By consistently practicing positive training methods we are reducing the risk or aggressive behaviors and teaching the dog not only how to understand our training desires but also how to communicate their behavioral needs to us.

We’re here to help, not judge.
Aversive tools or punishment based training is commonly advertised as a quick fix solution to problem behaviors. While these tools may look like they are “fixing” the problem.
Here’s why that’s not the case:
Using punishment based training methods and tools can create amplified stress and frustration for the dog causing them to emotionally shut down, create negative associations to you and other dogs and people, and sometimes can cause the dog to redirect potentially dangerous behaviors towards you.
If you have used punishment based methods or tools with your dog we’re not here to judge. We’re here to help teach and guide you using safe, humane and effective training methods to build a relationship with your dog built on trust, respect and communication.
By using positive reinforcement training methods we are keeping you and your dogs safety and wellbeing our #1 priority.
We’ve helped countless pet parents who were previously using punishment based training make the switch to positive based training.
